MEMORY CARE NEIGHBORHOOD
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Students were required to design a memory care neighborhood which would be part of a larger senior living community. The goal of this project was to create a community focused on de-institutionalized care for the elderly with emphasis on “small-house neighborhood” design. Additional amenities and services outside the “neighborhood” are accessible by all residents in the Community Core Building. This will promote an active, healthy lifestyle, improve quality of living and support wellness. CONCEPT STATEMENT: The Stony Brook Senior Living Community will be a place for those transitioning into the next phase of their lives. The neighborhood model will provide residents with individualized care based upon their needs. A central core building will serve as the heart of the community, with each neighborhood branching off the core. Safety will be of the upmost concern in the memory care neighborhood; the design of the space will address and minimize safety hazards. The overall wellness of the patients will be supported through the design and incorporated natural elements. The memory care neighborhood, as a whole, will provide residents with a unique living environment and uplifting culture as long as they may reside at Stony Brook. SOFTWARE USED: Revit, Enscape |
